1 Samuel 21:1 - 22:23 Fear and worry whisper to our hearts saying safety is found in being in control…being able to call the shots. At times, we tend to worry because it gives us a sense that we’re doing something when in reality, worry is only a mirage of being in control. So where do we find true safety? When we turn to 1 Samuel 21 David’s still on the run for his life with Saul intent on killing him. David needs a refuge. As we read chapters 21 and 22 today, we learn that true safety is not found in military might or being in control, but being close to God’s anointed. 1. God provides for his anointed. (21:1-9) 2. God will protect his anointed. (21:10-15) 3. The safest place to be is near God's anointed. (22:1-23)
