I Samuel 8 A person who becomes a Christian, realizes that self-rule isn’t working. They turn from self and sin to God. But we are “recovering control addicts,” so how do we resist relapsing into self-rule? We need the strength of God because swimming upstream is really hard How do we get strength? -Read God’s word Daily. -Make church a non-negotiable priority. -Choose good friends. -Pray -Remember this is not personal – we are the mailman not the Author. 2. We need a heart change, because information isn’t enough. 3. We need to trust God alone because an unchecked fear leads to a hard heart.
